Become a confident boat captain
Joyfully docking with style
What does YOUR boatlife situation look like?
You want to, but fear takes over
Perhaps you have always been a passager onboard. Sure it has been a bliss, but your dream to be able to take out the boat all by yourself or with friends is so powerful. Maybe you have dared to steer on open waters, but as soon as you come close to other boats or a harbor, you hand over the wheel to that someone else. You really want to have the confidence to dock at the jetty, but you don't dare.
Hard to chill at low speed
Maneuvering your motorboat at low speed in tight harbors and narrow canals can feel like a huge challenge. The boat does not behave the way you expect. Wind and current make you drift.
People at the jetty and in neighboring boats are watching you. It can feel scary and stage fright sets in, resulting in a self-fulfilling prophecy...
You want to share the helm, but...
Many times traditional social roles imply that the person onboard who is least physically built to handle heavy anchors and challenging climbs when docking, is the person who always is assigned those duties (on top of other ordinary household duties).
And perhaps the person who normally takes the wheel when docking is as afraid as anyone, but does it anyway. Time for change?
Hi, I’m Maria!
And I have been in your situation!
In the beginning of my boatlife, knowing absolutely Zero about boating, I took several traditional boating courses. But even if I did exactly as I was taught, the boat didn't react the way I felt it should. It made me so nervous, ready to give up all my boat dreams. But eventually, I figured it out. I realized it was all about subconscious behaviors that stopped me from understanding. Once I knew the secret, maneuvering, in any leisure boat model became easy.
But of course,
there have also been lots of failures and misfortunes...
